About

Bio

Organizing has always been a part of Melanie Unger’s life. She has enjoyed organizing since she was a young child. Even at a young age, she was motivated to keep her own bedroom tidy and clean, and she even recalls dusting and vacuuming her bedroom without being told! Organizing has always made Melanie feel energized and happy, since being organized provides an immediate visual sense of order and calm.

One of Melanie’s specialties is working as an organizational strategist in providing support, tips, and suggestions about how to organize classroom spaces. She enjoys assisting teachers in finding streamlined ways to become more organized in the areas of lesson planning, time management and aspects of classroom organizing such as space planning and purging. This passion in her profession helped her in writing her first book, Organized Teacher, Happy Classroom.

She also has experience in working closely with students to increase organizational success in the classroom and beyond. With each new class of students, she realizes how critical this skill is to student success. As she has continued her teaching career, she found that she is very interested in providing this organizing assistance through personal consulting and most recently through her writing.

Melanie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Reading Education. She is a member of NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers), and also a Member of Faithful Organizers. She is also a member of onlineorganizing.com. She has accumulated many hours of hands-on organizing experience, and she continues to pursue education in the field of organizing.

In June 2011, she published her first book, Organized Teacher, Happy Classroom.
